SAP Testing Approach - A Quick Overview

SAP is an ERP Package and all the Implementation of SAP require huge amount of configuration Testing documentation Team effort Planning etc.

Its not an easy way to do SAP Testing at all

Testing a simple application in Java/.net is very simple and its effect is also pretty less.

But if we compare SAP Testing Project it comprises of lot of efforts and analysis as any simple bug in one application can have very bad impact on the another and causing a huge business revenue loss.

A Project Manager or basically the owner of SAP Testing Team normally formulates a plan and it mainly comprises of all the resources deadline and mainly the type of testing and testing tools.

There are variety of Testing or different type of Testing like

  • Development Testing
  • Configuration Testing
  • Interface Testing
  • Process Testing
  • User Acceptance Testing
  • Functional Integration Testing
  • Cutover Testing

There are plenty of tools for conducting and managing the entire Test plan project for SAP like
SAP Solution Manager
SAP Quality Center

Both tools lead to set of testing tools and can manage huge amount of test scripts with results.

Both are very useful and has advantages and disadvantages over each other and can be integrated too.

In short it is not as simple as it looks and the various forms of testing mentioned above in SAP are more useful if properly documented and in the Test Result Summary Report etc.

  1. I agree that its difficult to perform sap testing. In case of simple applications the testing job is quite easy but SAP based applications are difficult to test. Thanks to you for suggesting an automated tool for managing the entire process.
