SAP SRM - Supplier Relationship Management

SAP SRM is a very new hot and rising technology.

Earlier we can see that we have something called as modules in SAP like
MM - Material Management
SD - Sales and Distribution
etc

Now SRM is more modified advanced version of MM  and it basically simplifies the procurement process which comprises of many sub processes or activities like

  • Operational Procurement
  • Strategic Purchasing and Sourcing
  • Supplier Collaboration
In short or another words all the MM consultants are now shifting towards this technology called SRM or Supplier Relationship Management to get themselves aligned with SAP.

Moreover we have plenty of advantages of using Supplier Relationship Management or SRM today

User Training
The main problem after implementation comes when we conduct user training earlier the typical interface was not that easier to understand and some users find it difficult to grasp it.
But now this provides an web based interface and users are really happy and its becoming hot today.

Easier to use
As already discussed above since it portal or web based so users are now a days having a hot discussion for SRM portal based application and finding it very simple to use

Easy Implementation of Workflow
There are plenty of SAP delievered workflows which are available and hence make it more handy during any SRM Implementation.

I hope above points help you to understand little bit of SRM and gives you a small idea what is it all about.

CRM- Customer Relationship Management

Hi

Yes it is very true that CRM is a very booming Technology but what is more important is the new concepts and new technology giving help to the companies to become more mature and strategy can be created for customer delight.

Customer delight
it is a new terminology given in the CRM field which means that the customer expectations is more than the product or service received.

Customer Satisfaction
It happens when product or service meet the customer expectations.

Customer Relationship Management - This is more advanced branch of Marketing which actually suggest that one should go beyond selling marketing and start building customer relationships for long term
There are various tools available like CLV to measure the same.CLV means Customer Lifetime Value which means the total revenue brought to a company by the customer.

There are more interesting things to know in CRM we discuss it later.
CRM as software provided by
SAP SE
Siebel
Microsoft Business Solution etc

SAP CRM or SAP Customer Relationship Management is very  mature product and typically famous as
CRM 2007 or SAP CRM 2007, myCRM etc

hope you guys liked it.

SAP Testing Approach - A Quick Overview

SAP is an ERP Package and all the Implementation of SAP require huge amount of configuration Testing documentation Team effort Planning etc.

Its not an easy way to do SAP Testing at all

Testing a simple application in Java/.net is very simple and its effect is also pretty less.

But if we compare SAP Testing Project it comprises of lot of efforts and analysis as any simple bug in one application can have very bad impact on the another and causing a huge business revenue loss.

A Project Manager or basically the owner of SAP Testing Team normally formulates a plan and it mainly comprises of all the resources deadline and mainly the type of testing and testing tools.

There are variety of Testing or different type of Testing like

  • Development Testing
  • Configuration Testing
  • Interface Testing
  • Process Testing
  • User Acceptance Testing
  • Functional Integration Testing
  • Cutover Testing

There are plenty of tools for conducting and managing the entire Test plan project for SAP like
SAP Solution Manager
SAP Quality Center

Both tools lead to set of testing tools and can manage huge amount of test scripts with results.

Both are very useful and has advantages and disadvantages over each other and can be integrated too.

In short it is not as simple as it looks and the various forms of testing mentioned above in SAP are more useful if properly documented and in the Test Result Summary Report etc.

Static and Dynamic Web Page

A Static web page is the one where the content is hard coded directly in simple HTML files.
There it needs to be edited if a change is required.Morever if we have a change which needs to be done on multiple pages then it needs to be done on all the pages
Developer or web site creator mainly chooses HTML or Hyper Text Markup Language to create the same.

But

a dynamic web age is where the display logic is maintained separately from the content and content is stored in database instead of HTML

Each page consists of a template which provides look and feel and in addition a code can provide the relevant data from database. It is written with various scripting techniques like an e commerce website (www.ebay.in)
Another example news website where we can see lot of flash sort of thing or a banner or pop coming with latest event happening e.g  www.indiatimes.com

E Commerce- Importance of Web Server

Today the performance of  a Web Server is a very important aspect related to Business. It has become a critical success of many corporations and organizations.

We can do this on Static parameter and dynamic parameter.Static Page mainly based small amount of CGI or common Gateway Interface scripts and more like simple websites having Static web pages.

To understand the difference between static and dynamic pages can check here

But same can't be applied to e-commerce based websites

So if we talk about the Web Server having a e- Commerce based Portal up and running 24/7 then it will be having a huge amount of data flow with multiple scripts running in parallel and linked to many database queries etc. e.g online shopping portal where you can search and it hits results after searching in database and this same search can be fired by multiple customer across the world

Latest surveys for e-commerce says we can do this based upon following points

1. Response Time
Time required for the site to load completely at different ISP speeds.

2 Security and certification
Remember if security is very important aspect and customer wants their transaction to be secure when dealing with Credit card information etc
Thus Implementation of a firewall at the server level is necessary.
SSL are mainly used for Security certificates etc.

3.Concurrent Connections
The number of users the server can handle at the same time.Technical term normally used today is THROUGHPUT.

4.Uptime
The length of time that a webserver can remain connected to the internet without requiring a restart.
Now a days we have servers which require a month for next time to be restarted.

5.Monitoring Tools
Here a third party tools can also be used for the same to monitor the website at regular intervals by monitoring HTTP requests, hardware failure FTP etc.

In order to design a web server with high performance and reliable web server for eCommerce applications the factors must be considered.

E - Commerce Website - A Web Presence

In today world it is not possible to believe a business running without IT or Information Technology help.

We can run any business may be Banking ,Retail , Utilities, Telecom but we definitely need today Computer presence and moreover a new face to business will be created known as website.

Yes you got it right. The days are gone that a person can run a Business without using Computer of course it doesn't means its mandatory to have Computer presence but yes it makes a huge difference.

E.g consider you want to buy some clothes and visited a shop and he gave you a card saying that it has their website mention and you can visit and choose the clothes you like, before coming to their store.
It is great experience!

OR

You would like to transfer some amount to your friend account so you have to goto bank physically and get in the queue, fill the form and then ask the bank officer to do it after waiting hours in queue and investing hours of time etc.
But  Thanks to Internet or Dot com revolution
we have not Bank website and online transfer which we can use to transfer
either in the same city or country to our friend etc

Yes now time is money and running out and we have mall and big store everywhere but we always have less time and would like to explore more and thus business needs a Web Presence to meet customer needs.

There are various models if we talk about E - Commerce like

  1. Brick and Mortar
  2. Click and Portal
  3. Click and Brick

We will explore more later but I think now you guys the idea why Web Presence is needed in today's world.

Business Process - Order to Cash

Business Process is very need of a business today and we know there are always certain critical business processes for any business.

When we talk about Business Process it is basically a series of activities and combination of several small activities or tasks.
E.g

ORDER TO CASH
In a typical order to cash scenario we have

  1. Inquiry by customer followed by
  2. Quotation creation  followed by
  3. Sales Order Creation  followed by
  4. Billing/Invoice generation  followed by
  5. Payment
e.g we go to buy a car

first we do an enquiry about a car model say Maruti 800.
That dealer will provide us the Quotation

If we  like it we go ahead and ask him to proceed further, now dealer will create a sales order and prepare for billing and delivery and we pay to the dealer.

There are many other activities for the sake of simplicity and understanding not explained here.

Thus above flow tries to explore certain basic concept of what a Business Process is all about.

How to Create Messages in Excel –Part 3

How to create messages in excel –Part 3

In the previous article we have learnt how to create a Error/Warning message in the excel (Create Messages in Excel Part 2)but sometimes we need to give Information only to the users.

Sample Scenario

Check the below excel here we have 2 columns and data in column B can be Yes or No as per the values available in drop down,

Note: You can check here how to create drop down values in excel

http://saxenablogs.blogspot.com/2010/05/data-validation-in-excel-how-to-create.html

Now to create the Message as an error proceed below

Step 1 Click on Data Validation tab and choose Data Validation

Step 2 click on the Error Alert Tab as shown

Step 3 Choose style as Information

Step 4 Now enter Title and Error Message

Step 5 Press Ok button above and now you will return to the same initial screen

For e.g if I goto link 6 as above and try to make any change or right in it instead of selecting any value from Drop down option I get the following message.

Thus with above steps you can configure excel to give you a Information pop up to user, the only difference between ERROR and Information message is that in ERROR message user can’t fill any value but with above option user can fill other value and continue.

This option is valid for cases where you want to guide users to fill the right option from drop down and not to enforce them for choosing only same set of values.

How to Create Messages in Excel-Part 2

How to create messages in excel-Part 2

In the previous article we have learnt how to create a Error message in the excel (Create Message Part 1)but sometimes we need to give Warning to the users.

Sample Scenario

Check the below excel here we have 2 columns and data in column B can be Yes or No as per the values available in drop down,

Note: You can check here(Create Dropdown Values in Excel) how to create drop down values in excel

Now to create the Message as an error proceed below

Step 1 Click on Data Validation tab and choose Data Validation

Step 2 click on the Error Alert Tab as shown

Step 3 Choose style as Warning

Step 4 Now enter Title and Error Message

Step 5 Press Ok button above and now you will return to the same initial screen

For e.g if I goto link 6 as above and try to make any change or right in it instead of selecting any value from Drop down option I get the following message.

Thus with above steps you can configure excel to give you a Warning pop up to user, the only difference between ERROR and WARNING message is that in ERROR message user can’t fill any value but with above option user can fill other value and continue.

This option is valid for cases where you are not sure of all the values in advance or at the time of creating excel so can choose this option.

How to create messages in excel-Part1

Many times even we have secured our excel by creating drop down to restrict users entering wrong information,we need to provide the message to users so that we can tell what needs to be done so that users landed up into trouble.

We all know messages are important and help users to explain the task easily.

Step 3 Choose style as Stop

Step 4 Now enter Title and Error Message

Step 5 Press Ok button above and now you will return to the same initial screen

For e.g if I goto link 6 as above and try to make any change or right in it instead of selecting any value from Drop down option I get the following message.

Thus the above steps will help you to configure your sheet in such way that users can provide or fill wrong data and also the message will guide them how/what to fill.

Data Validation in Excel : - How to create a drop down in Microsoft Excel

In todays world excel became a very good source of information and almost used extensively by managers,IT Professionals etc.

All  this data store in excel can be wrong or this information can lead to wrong decision too ?

Surprised check the below Excel

Yes even though you have maintained the above data where person is interested to know how many Customers are satisfied with only knowing Yes or No answer but still there is a difference wrong data is filled by certain customer as shown above.

This lead to Question

How you can be sure that everything is correct. To optimize the data storage in excel we can create Drop Down list.

With the help of this list the chances are NILL for entering wrong data in it.

For e.g

For our above scenario in same excel in the Column B; I just want Yes or No answer;

Without drop down a user can enter whatever he want,so we create a drop down as shown below

Step 1:

Click on column B ,

Step 2

Then goto Data tab now, click on Data Validation

Step 3:

menu choose the “List” option in the Allow as shown,Source box enter values “Yes” and “No” as shown below;

Thus now you have a drop down created in excel with values required for us and user’s can’t enter any other garbage or unwanted value in it as shown below,

Also the same values appear in first or Label column to remove the same proceed as below;

Step 4
Select the Label column

Step 5

Click on data validation again and following pop up will come;

Step 6
Now make the changes as below

Press ok button.

Step 7
Now you can see the LABEL doesn’t have a drop down as expected

Thus above steps will help to customize or guided you to have your own Drop Down list.

Now want to do more click here Create Messages in Excelto learn how to create messages as warning, information or error in Excel.

Internet

Hi Guys,

I am sharing some good facts about internet which might be very useful and will enhance your knowledge about internet.

What is internet?

Internet is collection of computer networks,it is a collection of huge number of computers.

But there is huge difference between www or World Wide Web and Internet, the difference is the same like we have between US and California or India and New delhi.
Yes you got it right the www is a part of Internet as shown below.

Now do you know who owns the Internet or who is the owner of Internet?

Actually nobody owns the Internet and there is no owner as such.Yes it is true but there are several agencies who actually owns their part of internet.

Who is the father of Internet?
Vint Cerf is the father of internet.

Who is the developer or founder of E- Mail or Electronic Mail?
Ray Tomlinson is the founder of e-mail system,he is the first one who actually mailed himself or recognizes himself with use of "@" symbol he successfully distinguishes between various networks.

Who is father of world wide web or www?
Tim Berner's - Lee is the father of www and www was developed to be a pool of human knowledge which would allow collaborators in remote sites to share their ideas and thoughts using this technology.

In addition he define HTML HTTP and URL to make www which is ofcourse a huge success.

Actually www is the one technology which makes the internet a user friendly way of chatting or reaching others using the GUI or Graphical user interface.

who developed TCP/IP ?
The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is the founder of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol.

Thus the above Technologies like www or the TCP/IP help the internet to grow bigger wider and reach the common man or getting it commercialized.

Difference Between SAP BW and SAP BI

Hi Guys,

I am mentioning some points regarding SAP BW and SAP BI difference which is the new version.

  • Real Time Data Acquisition (RDA) is a very new concept in SAP BI, used to support the Tactical Decision Making very helpful for Business Decisions ie. allows u to extract the data with a minimum of every 1 minute which was not there in SAP BW.
  • ODS objects of SAP BW have been renamed as DataStore Objects in SAP BI. A DataStore object now serves as a place or storage location for consolidated and cleansed transaction data or master data.
  • Administrator Workbench of SAP BW 3.5 is renamed as Data Warehousing Workbench in SAP BI 70.In addition the transaction remains the same i.e RSA1 in both the version but if we require accessing the old RSA1 of SAP BW 3. 5 then we can access the same using RSA1OLD transaction code.
  • There is a SAP BIg problem earlier that we cannot include infocubes in SAP BW.Now this is cured or removed and we can include infocubes in infosets.
  • The transformation in SAP BI replaces the transfer and update rules of SAP SAP BW.
  • There are functional changes to the Persistent Staging Area (PSA) in SAP BI.
  • Searching feature in SAP BI is widely changed and we can search almost all the Objects as compared to SAP BW.
  • New authorization objects are added and User Management has become easy in SAP BI as compared SAP BW.
  • In Bex Analyzer Design tool bar and Analysis tool Bar has been added in SAP BI.
  • Loading of Data is through PSA or Persistent Storage Area only in SAP BI and not like SAP BW.
  • Above all what i have noticed or learnt is SAP BI is complete Business Solution whereas BW was more like Data Warehouse only.

 Hope you guys liked it.

Maintenance Management

Maintenance is it required ?

Yes it is required for all types of companies whether it is producing GOODS & SERVICES.In other words,it covers industries producing goods like Steel, food products, etc or
service industries like hospital curing the Patients or banking sector etc.

Not only this there is actually 2 types of Maintenance which can be done or managed. It is
  1. Planned Maintenance
  2. Unplanned Maintenance
Planned Maintenance is where we can plan regular maintenance or repairs etc.
whereas
Unplanned Maintenance is actually for those type of failure for e.g we have earthquake so our entire plant is collapsed we cannot plan or it is contigent to a situation.

Planned Maintenance is divided again further into 2 broad categories:
Preventive Maintenance - Basically preventing the accidental failure of machine or checking that regular service should be available to customer in service sector.

Corrective Maintenance - It is more like small regular corrections or removing small problem which might be seen during natural working hours of daily lifecycle etc.

Thus it can be observed,it is very important for us to go for it, Not only in companies but in our daily for e.g  we brush our teeth daily, it is Preventive daily so that we should not have any Dental Problems

Similarly if someone had a bad teeth problem etc regularly occurring, immediately goes to Doctor or for checkup to get it corrected or remove pain. This is example of Corrective Maintenance.

In other words maintenance is major part of our life whether single or individual level or it is upto the company level and that is why we need to manage it.

SAP Automated Testing Using ECATT

Automated Testing is now a days trend in IT and so in SAP.

Earlier people used to take hours to create a Test Script for any Transaction code for SAP but now it has become very easy.

Automation testing is just like photography or more like video.Yes it is like running the transaction in the same environment you want and automatically and manual intervention is least required.

So it saves time and cost and also more efficient and eliminates lot of mistakes.

In addition it can be programmed to take care of any error messages happening.

SAP Testing or testing various transaction etc people can now use ECATT or Enhanced Computer Aided Test Tool,QTP or Quick Test Professional etc.

ECATT is being delivered by SAP itself which is a wonderful tool and morever has more advantages over its predecessor like CATT or computer aided test tool.

Basically it comprises of four parts to be produced which are namely

1. System Data Container

This comprises of the details for the system on which script needs to be executed.
For e.g I am running remotely a script on managed system A so I give it reference here which will be linked automatically when system runs the script.

2.Test Data Container

It comprises of all our test data, normally we store the script recording once with one set of data and later we create parameter and execute the script with different set of data by using this Test data container.

3.Test Script

This is the actual Test Script.for e.g if we want to record a MM03 transaction code we can do the recording here for it.

We can create or maintain any test script or can have mulitple one in the one script only.e.g first we create a material using MM01 and then use MM03 to check if the material exist.
So we can combine both using MM01 and MM03

4. Test Configuration

This is basically all the above parts,so here we can use a Test Script with its version and set of parameter defined with Test Data and System Data Container details.

So if we provide the name of test configuration then script is known with test input data and also which system it has to be executed.

Hope the above gives a good starting point to begin with ECATT.

Six Sigma introduction

The Six Sigma is a key component to earn Customer Satisfaction and making quality a culture in the company's culture.

It is a methodology which is used to manage all the process variations which are causing defects and and help to remove the same completely or to a minimum.

The very objective of Six Sigma is to deliver performance, reliability and value to the end customer.

Some of the Key concepts of six sigma are
  1. Customer voice or needs of customer
  2. Quality Needs of customer i.e more important or customer stated needs
  3. Defects -Elimination of all the defects
  4. Variation
  5. variance
etc

With the help of above key concepts we look to reduce defects below3.4 Defects per million opportunities (DPMO) further towards customer satisfaction.

We will explore more later.

Quality a Giant Step Towards Customer Satisfaction

Now a days Quality is something which is becoming very important in our life.

We now believe in quality work or quality output every company of whatever sector e.g utilities or communication or IT Sector or any other company believe in quality. Why?

Simply because it is one step towards Customer Satisfaction.

For.e.g we go to have a coffee in coffee shop but we don’t get a good coffee or prompt service we feel bad and don’t want to go there anymore.Simply because we are not satisfied.

Quality is more like customer satisfaction and trying to meet Customer’s

1 Stated 2 Unstated or unspecified Needs as well as 3 expectations.

For .eg consider above example if we don’t get good coffee it’s like we not getting stated need satisfied or the primary need

But if we don’t get prompt service then it is unspecified need which is missing.

Now what is then expectations:

Expectations is something if we are preferred or daily customer of that shop then they should offer us a discount this is known as customer expectations.

Therefore in todays world no company can be happily run if their customers are not happy and therefore they have to move towards their satisfaction and the only way of achieving the same is through QUALITY Product or Service.

Moreover the Six Sigma is gaining huge popular ship among all the companies globally simply because it puts pressure for making Quality a culture in the company environment.

Quality Habits : Reading/Blogging

Hi All,

Many you of might be thinking what can be a quality reading because different people have different opinion

Yes it is true that it can’t be said to have this is Quality Reading but there should be some criteria which can be set for it like

The people should maintain a quality of Reading which increases speed as well as vocabulary general knowledge etc

Now a day’s Time is changing and Technology is changing with double speed. It is required for each and every one residing on the planet to read and learn things as we grow but now that should be maintained as a habit of reading.

Not only this have to make notes so better to blog. If required start blogging using Blogger.com etc.

Always manage time to do some exercise daily, internet surfing newspaper reading or novel reading etc.

Always read articles which you feel are interesting and try to compose it on blog so that you can utilize it latter and enhance your reading and writing skill.

I feel like REWARDING the time I post it on the blogger why simply because whatever I have read or learnt if we can make note of it will become permanent and will be useful to others also.

Its always knowledge which can be increased by sharing

SAP BI: An Overview

BI as the name suggests Business combined with intelligence.

Now a days we are able to include systems much like our collegues doing our work with more accuracy and reliability. It is a system which actually carries business information in an arranged manner so that Higher management people can react and act on it or take a good decision for their bussiness.

SAP made this technology for analyzing data warehousing and for reporting requirements of any organization

SAP launched BI as a technology many years back and it was known as BW or SAP Business Warehouse which actually means the data warehouse covering all the useful data.

Today it is replace by another more meaninful term called as SAP BI or SAP Business Intelligence.

The most common daily used a major transaction in SAP BI is RSA1 which is for Administrator workbench and in the previous versions(SAP BW) too we have RSA1 but now in SAP BI it is replaced by RSA1OLD transaction code.

We can do intgration with multliple satellite systems (other systems connected to SAP BI systems acting as a datasource e.g ECC) and can pull the data for

  1. · Transforming it more better refined queries as per need.
  2. · Consolidate it for reporting
  3. · Clean the unnecessary or unwanted data that may not be required for our reporting

In addition we can do planning and simulation other than Analyzing. With the help of business planning and simulation technique we can check if plan for manufacturing or production required or other requirement.

BI also uses Online Analytical Processing(OLAP) which is basically used for informational reports carrying bulk of operational and historical data.Remember it is all the transactional data reporting. The OLAP processor is also capable of allowing multi-dimensional analyses according to various business requirements.

Hope this is much for an overview will explore more latter.

How To /Learn - Creating Customer Specific SAP Role in PFCG Transaction in SAP(Systems Applications Products for Data Processing)

How to copy and create a SAP Customized Role using PFCG transaction code

We know the basics that if you have to use SAP which is a wonderful product by SAP SE company and now being utilized with quite companies all over the world. The authorization in this product are typically govern by SAP transaction PFCG roles concept.
We call it SAP Security Team or SAP Security/Gatekeepers who make sure no one can access something for which they are not authorized to do so.

Sometimes we say let goto BASIS people and ask them for missing authorization but in reality it is the concept of security and actually done by SAP Security Team in any organization or support team to be precise based upon my experience.

It is always recommended not to modify the original role delivered by SAP but to copy it to customer namespace i.e to create a role with "z" or "y" namespace.

Many times the customer requirement varies so much that to provide more security etc the Standard role needs to be modified.

For this just visit the transaction

TCODE- PFCG

  1. Now enter the name of SAP standard role and click button to copy the role or choose from sap menu.
  2. Now provide the target name starting with “Z” or “Y” and now press enter key
  3. The role is copied to your zname and enter the new role name and click change button.
  4. In the upcoming screen click on the Tab Authorization and goto maintain authorization data
  5. Now update the object as per requirement followed by Save and generate

Finally assign this role to the respective users solving the purpose and also this is valid for
SAP R/3
SAP ERP Ehp1, EHP2 etc

SAP ABAP A brief overview with transaction codes

ABAP or Advance Business Application Programming is the fourth generation language and use for coding in ABAP.

When I joined and started working in SAP Technology the first technology I have interacted is ABAP which is much like other 4 generation languages .

In ABAP we have transaction codes to do coding and various types of coding can be done based upon business requirements.

The first used and most basic transactions are:-

se37 - Function Builder

se38 - ABAP Editor (to modify ABAP programs)

se11 - ABAP Dictionary

Se11 is more like daily transaction as we have access to domain element search help database tables etc.

Earlier we have used for printing

se71 - SAPScript Forms

but now a days we have been shifted to Smartforms a much better and faster technology for printing.

Its tcode is

SMARTFORMS

Whenver we do a change in SAP standard code or any change in the system by creating a new object itself it needs to be captured in the form of Transport request and for this following tcode is used.

se09 - Transport (Workbench) Organizer (Controlling and keeping track of Development work and Development Objects)

For creating customer transaction codes etc following one is used.

se93 - Maintain T codes

For message which we pop up or give information error etc to users we can use the following one

se91 - Message Maintenance

Some other common one’s are:-

se16 - Data Browser (Table contents display)

se41 - Menu Painter

se51 - Screen Painter

se80 - Object Navigator

sm59 - Maintain RFC Destinations (Define RFC Configuration)

The most important transaction which is used during Upgrades etc are below

ST22 - ABAP Dump Analysis, check logical runtime errors

SPAU- Display Modified DE Objects

SPDD - Display Modified DDIC Objects

This is more than sufficient I think and we will explore more later on.
